The company experienced a failure on the 20" pipeline, about 95km northeast of Peace River in Northern Sunrise County, Alberta.

This pipeline failure resulted in a release of approximately 28,000 barrels of crude oil.

Prior to resuming operations, Plains Midstream Canada has to meet several conditions including weekly aerial surveillance of the pipeline to monitor for geotechnical hazards and completion of work on all excavated sites.

The company has also been directed by ERCB to limit the interim maximum operating pressure of the pipeline.
