The state-owned Estonian utility, Eesti Energia, is to build a $100 million interconnection with Finland, Reuters reports. The link will involve construction of a submarine hvdc cable across the Baltic.

The link, to be built in cooperation with foreign partners and commercial banks, will export electricity to the Nordic countries. Construction is planned to start next summer and is expected to take 15 months. Partners in the project include ABB, Pohjolan Voima, Graning-verkens and Helsinki Energy.
