The inquiry is expected to last for five months and could lead to a fine of 10% of PKN Orlen’s annual revenue, which stood at PLN42.7 billion in 2007.

The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKIK) had previously fined PKN Orlen PLN14 million in 2006, for abusing its monopolistic position.

The UOKIK has also said that it is looking into other allegations that the oil company has breached antimonopoly regulations.
