The European Investment Bank (EIB) has advanced the Electricity Supply Board of Ireland a loan facility of $110 million for 15 years in order to support the construction of a combined cycle natural gas-fired power plant at Poolbeg, Dublin.
The project comprises a three-unit, 465 MWe power station to be built at the site of an existing generating facility. The EIB loan will cover the second and third combined cycle units for the project. Gas for the project will be supplied through a UK-Ireland interconnector which was also supported by the EIB.
