The company is developing the PowerPac generator which utilizes diesel fuel to generate electricity.

The power generator produces no toxic emissions because of the controlled catalytic process in the reformer.

The noise level will be minimum due to the non occurrence of combustion and the company claims that the diesel fuel’s high energy content makes it ideal for remote power stations.

PowerCell said the generator will have an increased life-span of the stack and the reformer as well as a reduced production cost.

The unit, which generates around 3kW of electric power, can be optimized for several applications and markets, and deliver clean power using existing fuel.

PowerCell Sweden CEO Magnus Henell said: "We expect that the interest for the next generation of PowerPac to be huge within the telecommunications and transport sectors globally, as these industries need to significantly reduce their operating costs.

"PowerPac can help achieve this with a power solution that is clean, durable and compatible with increasingly stringent environmental laws."

PowerCell is a spinout from the Volvo Group with the objective to develop and produce environmentally friendly power systems based on a fuel cell and reformer technology that matches the existing fuel infrastructures.

Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, PowerCell is owned by Volvo Group Venture Capital, Fouriertransform, Midroc New Technologies and Finindus.
