The Public Power Corporation (PPC) will reportedly be discussing a new memorandum of understanding with RWE, once the existing deal lapses.

The latest edition of the MoU will be seeking to establish a joint venture to run a 500MW-800MW coal-fired power plant in Albania. Other areas of co-operation will also include natural gas supply and wind farm development in Greece.

The proposed Albanian thermal power plant will be controlled by RWE, with a 51% stake, while PPC will account for 39% and the remaining 10% will be held by the Titan Cement Company.

The new MoU steers clear of the creation of joint venture thermoelectric plants in Greece, the main cause for union resentment against the previous version of the MoU.
