The stack is designed to use in mobile applications that include buses and light duty vehicles, maritime applications like tourist, ferry boats and auxiliary power supply and stationary applications such as UPS and smart grit.

Proton Motor Fuel Cell managing director Francoise Faiz Nahab said the company plans to develop further business in high power applications.

"The new PM400 fuel cell stack generation is the next step in that direction," Nahab added.

In 2013, Proton Motor acquired SPower, while established in 2007, SPower serves IT, telecoms, public infrastructure and healthcare customers in Germany, Europe and Middle East with power supply solutions for DC and AC power demand.
