The project, owned by PSEG Solar Source, is powered by more than 159,000 ground-mounted panels to produce enough electricity to power more than 9,000 homes.

The Wyandot Solar Farm has been developed by Juwi Solar, which was the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the farm.

The solar panels were supplied by First Solar’s manufacturing plant in Perrysburg, Ohio, while Myers Controlled Power provided the power stations.

PSEG Solar Source has already entered into long-term power purchase agreements with Columbus Southern Power and Ohio Power Companies, subsidiaries of American Electric Power, for this project, which links to the grid at the Upper Sandusky Substation.

PSEG Solar Source head Diana Drysdale said that solar farms, like this one in Wyandot County, boost local economies through direct project related employment and the development of skills and experience that will increasingly be in demand.

“These projects are effectively driving down the cost of solar power enabling it to become a meaningful part of the energy mix,” Drysdale added.
