The contract, with a commencement date of 1 July, 2011 allows for haulage of 3.7 million tons of coal per annum from the Wesfarmers Curragh mine to Stanwell Power Station, located west of Rockhampton.
QR National executive vice president and CEO Coal Customers and Strategy Curtis Davies said the company is extremely pleased in signing the contract with Stanwell and has provided a benefit for both the companies.
The contract includes commercial incentives for strong operational performance by QR National, including Stanwell’s key considerations – security of supply and the flexibility to meet power station variability added Davies.
