Quezon Power General Manager Frank Thiel said that We are looking at 10 MW to 12 MW. We are evaluating the sites [which] have been identified by the Department of Energy as a potential wind source”.

Thiel anticipated that investments in wind resources can be around $1 to $2 million per MW, depending on the equipment to be used.

Thiel said investments in the wind power project could even be more than $24 million because you have to acquire rights over the land, you have to do construction.

If the results are positive, then we’ll try to move forward with that. We’re quite excited about the Renewable Energy bill that was passed by the government last year… That’s something we definitely want to look at, Thiel said.

For 2009, Thiel said that the company was planning to complete the site evaluation.
