The PICOZ500 is exclusively designed for handheld and portable equipment with a flexible I/O scheme, battery support and LCD touch screen support. The I/O signals are routed to headers rather than connectors to provide a lower profile and application specific enclosure options allowing customers to easily add and route I/O via cables. Feature packed with technology like touch screen and LED back light support, MicroSD boot, battery charger and BIOS support means equipment manufacturers can significantly lower their development costs and shorten their development cycles by incorporating the PICOZ500 into their designs.

RadiSys has targeted the portable and handheld markets by delivering a small and efficient form factor, said Eric Heikkila, director of Embedded Hardware and Systems with VDC Research Group. The functionality of this compact board combined with its low power makes it ideal for OEMs developing small and portable embedded devices such as patient monitors, handheld wireless units, gaming consoles and ticketing equipment.

The Procelerant PICOZ500 is a result of RadiSys listening to customers and ensuring the feature set we incorporated meets their needs, said Wade Clowes, vice president and general manager of commercial markets for RadiSys. With the addition of this powerful but small board, we now offer broad variety of small form factor products geared to mobile applications in medical imaging, test and measurement, gaming and industrial control systems.
