The Cape Wind offshore wind farm will consist of 130 offshore wind turbines, each with a 3.6MW capacity and will be located off Cape Cod in the state of Massachusetts on the US east coast.
Upon completion, the wind turbines will be able to generate electrical power for about 500,000 households.
Rambøll Danmark Offshore Wind director Klaus Jacob Jensen, "Cape Wind is likely to spearhead several other projects in the US. That could potentially benefit the entire industry and also lead to the creation of new jobs."
The Cape Wind offshore wind farm is expected to be completed by 2015.
