The 148,700-square-foot PV array employs 4,956 solar panels and is expected to produce around 1,792,300 kWh of clean electricity annually.
The electricity produced is equivalent of reducing 1,362 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
Commenting on the installation IKEA Tampa store manager Monica Varela said, "The installation of solar panels at IKEA Tampa is another way we can build upon our ongoing commitment to sustainability."
The retailer’s Tampa project is the company’s 22nd installation in the US with more installations currently underway.
IKEA has a combined solar generation of 38MW across all its locations in the US.
