Solar project

According to the company, the solar projects will provide electricity to the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) for the next 20 years through feed-in-tariff agreements.

During the first year of operation, the projects would generate enough electricity to power over 13,300 homes in Ontario.

Located near Barrie and London in Southern Ontario, the development and operation of the solar power projects have created over 1,600 jobs.

In October 2013, Fiera Axium Infrastructure has agreed to acquire a 50% equity interest in eight of the projects totaling 86MWp, while Metropolitan Life Insurance will acquire the remaining 50% equity interest.

Fiera Axium Infrastructure has also agreed to acquire a 100% equity interest in the remaining two projects totaling 22MWp.

Recurrent Energy CEO Arno Harris said, "These projects are 10 of twenty-three projects Recurrent Energy has brought online in the last year – bringing our total operating portfolio to more than half a gigawatt globally.

"Completing our 220 megawatt Ontario portfolio represents years of hard work and collaboration with our financial partners and numerous stakeholders in Ontario and local communities," Harris added.

Recurrent Energy now has a portfolio of 20 projects totaling 220MWp/159 MWac in Ontario. The final project is expected to reach commercial operation in spring 2014.
