The value of the contract has not been disclosed.
The aromatics complex includes BP paraxylene technology which is offered for license exclusively by Lummus Technology.
The technology uses a new crystallization step and other features to reduce the operating costs and results in low capital costs.
CB&I president and CEO Philip K Asherman said the company’s role as the exclusive licensor for BP’s paraxylene technology is another example of how strategic collaborations are an effective approach for global producers like Reliance.
"Combined with the expertise of CB&I’s Lummus Technology business sector, this technology provides the optimal solution in terms of cost and reliability," Asherman said.
Paraxylene is an in between product that is produced during the manufacturing process of polyester, a polymer that is used for a variety of applications.
