Collaborating with Renault-Nissan and YNM on the EV project is a part of Taichung City’s ongoing commitment to build an infrastructure that would support a high speed railway and the use of electric bicycles and motorcycles.
It is also on the city’s agenda to promote the use of EVs by building EV charging infrastructure, developing supporting policies and structures, which will include using EVs as official vehicles, creating purchase incentives and an EV promotional team and educating the public about EVs.
Renault-Nissan, in an attempt to advance the deployment of EVs globally, has formed partnerships with more than 60 governments, cities and other organizations around the world, including Japan, US, Europe, Asia and Australia.
