REpower Systems and RWE Innogy have signed a framework agreement for the supply of 250 REpower 5M/6M offshore wind turbines. The framework agreement is valued at approximately E2 billion.
The first 30 offshore wind turbines of the REpower 5M model are scheduled to be delivered in 2011, and the delivery volume will continue to rise through 2012 to 2015.
The units will be for the most part be used in the planned Innogy Nordsee 1 wind farm, which will be built 40km to the north of the East Frisian island of Juist in Germany.
The 5M and 6M series wind turbines, which have a nominal power generation capacity of 5MW and 6MW respectively, have a rotor diameter of 126m. The rotor consists of three rotor blades of 61.5m in length. REpower is currently installing the first three machines of the 6M series in an onshore project on Germany’s border with Denmark.
Fritz Vahrenholt, chairman of RWE Innogy, said: This agreement underlines once again quite clearly that RWE Innogy is maintaining a high investment tempo even in times of financial crisis.
