The turbines are of the REpower MM82 and MM92 class with a rating of 2MW. They are slated to be delivered in the period from 2009-11 for the construction of wind farms in Europe.

This agreement reportedly shows the intention of Electrabel and its parent, the Suez Group, to develop their renewable energy generation capacity. The company has set itself the goal of having 18% of its capacity come from renewable sources by 2009.

To achieve this, it is developing a balanced European portfolio of renewable energy sources based on multiple technologies including hydropower, biomass, photovoltaic energy and wind power.

Per Hornung Pedersen, CEO of REpower Systems, said: We are delighted about this major order from our new client. It shows Electrabel’s high confidence in our company and its reliable technology and enables us to grow further in significant European markets.
