Rosatom plans to work with local partner for the development of 2×1,200MW project.

Places such as Batam, Bangka Belitung, Kalimantan and West Papua are being considered for the construction of the PLTN, reports the Kontan and Bisnis Indonesia newspapers.

As with other plants, Rosatom will use latest technology to enable nuclear plant to withstand earthquakes, tornadoes and tsunamis.

In addition to financing the project, Rosatom is ready for nuclear knowledge and technology transfer to Indonesia.

A total of 77 nuclear reactors have been developed by the company in 12 countries including Iran, India, Germany and Finland, till date.

Currently, 55 of the reactors are operating, distributing electricity across Europe and Asia, to more than 40 countries.
