The agreement will develop cooperation and business partnership between the companies, boost energy security and the reliability of energy supplies, curb tariff increases and support generating capacities in the region.

Rosneft will also consider the possibility of supplying gas to the energy facilities of RusHydro.

The plan, however, is part of the programme to create an unified system for the production and transportation of gas, and gas supplies in Eastern Siberia and the Far East.

It also includes the possibility of exporting gas to China and other Asia Pacific nations.

Under the deal, the companies also plans to develop gas production centres in the Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk, Primorsky, Kamchatka, Irkutsk and Sakhalin regions and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
