The plant, a 50/50 JV of RusHydro and RUSAL, is being built on the Angara River in the Krasnoyarsk district Territory.

The company has commissioned the first seven 333MW hydropower units of plant during 2012-2013 and is currently working on preparation of the last ninth unit for testing.

The plant has catered 4,367GWh of electricity including 616GWh in November 2013 to the wholesale electricity and capacity market during January-November 2013.

The plant’s total installed capacity in operation by end of December 2013 is 1,998MW and working capacity accounting for lower reservoir level is 1,362MW.

Construction on the plant was started in 1979 and those works were halted between 1994 and 2005 due to the economic turbulence and a drop in demand for power.

The construction works were restarted in 2006, following an agreement between Rusal and RusHydro to jointly develop the complex.
