Rusatom Service, a subsidiary of Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom, and Russian energy equipment manufacture Power Machines (Siloviye Mashiny) have signed a contract to supply four sets of turbine blades that are most exposed to wear for unit 2 of China’s Tianwan NPP in Jiangsu province.
The equipment must be manufactured and delivered by 2020, a Rosatom statement said. The new turbine blades will be fitted as part of a "compulsory" maintenance procedure. Tianwan 2, a Russian-built VVER-1000 pressurised water reactor, has been in commercial operation since 2007. There are three more VVER-1000s at Tianwan – one commercially operational and two under construction. Power Machines previously was contracted to supply three sets of turbine blades to Tianwan 1 and spares for turbine generators at units 1 and 2. The projects are due to be completed in September and August 2016, respectively.
Russia has also set up a working group with India to locally build components for Russian design NPPs. This comes under an Action Programme signed between Rosatom and India’s Department of Atomic Energy in December. Rosatom is in the process of opening its regional office for South Asia office in Mumbai. The Action Programme includes cooperation in the field of joint machinery production, especially for NPPs, as well as cooperation in the field of joint development, mastering and technological support for the implementation of end-to-end production technologies for the heavy and power engineering industries. Three earlier joint working groups, set up under the Indo-Russian Coordinating Committee on cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy established in December 2014, are on the nuclear fuel cycle, nuclear energy and scientific-technical cooperation.
