A floating nuclear plant, based on icebreaker technology, is under consideration for a location offshore from Kamchatka in the far east of Russia. The regional administration has agreed to the plan, but finance is needed. If sufficient funding can be found, a feasibility study will be done. It was initially planned to build the first floating nuclear power plant near Pevek, in Chukotka, in the far northwest but finance could not be raised. The design will now be transferred to the Kamchatka plant.

The 70 MW plant would supply Vilyuchinsk with heat and electricity.
