RWE Innogy is the operator of the facility.

RWE Innogy spokesman was quoted by the Gazette as saying: "The construction of RWE Innogy UK’s Biomass Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant at Markinch is complete and it is now producing power and steam for use at Tullis Russell Papermakers whilst also exporting power to the local network.

"From time to time the plant will be shut down temporarily for maintenance purposes and notice of such planned events will be publicised through local media ahead of any shut down and subsequent restart."

RWE Innogy, which pools the renewable expertise of the RWE Group across Europe, plans, builds and operates facilities generating power from renewable sources.
