The proposed farm has a total installed capacity of 1.2GW and will be located off the north Norfolk coast.

Triton Knoll is estimated to require an investment of more than £3.6bn, while creating 500 construction jobs in for locals in Lincolnshire region.

Project manager Jacob Hain was quoted by Bloomberg as saying that the project was vital to the UK economy.

"The consultation will ensure the location we finally choose is the most appropriate location for the Triton Knoll electrical infrastructure.

"This is the final piece of the jigsaw and we need to get local knowledge to allow us to take the final decision on where this infrastructure should be," Hain added.

The company identified three locations for the electrical compound in the East Lindsey area, and four probable sites for an onshore electricity substation, spread across 20ha.

Consultation for the proposed plans commence on 19 February 2013 with 5 April 2013 set as the concluding date.
