The newspaper reported that RWE is in advanced stages of talks with the European Commission (EC) regarding the divestment of its gas pipelines.
The EC reportedly launched an investigation against RWE in 2007, on concerns that the utility is hampering competitors’ access to its gas pipelines in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, according to Handelsblatt.
