Under the first contract in Indonesia, awarded by ENI Muara Bakau, Saipem will use Scarabeo 7 vessel to drill a minimum of 12 wells, which are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2017.

The rig, which has a capacity to operate in water depths of up to 5,000ft, will remain under contract with ENI until February 2018.

The second contract in West Africa is for the second generation semi-submersible rig Scarabeo 3, which can operate in water depths of about 1,500ft, has been extended to March 2015.

UAE’s National Drilling Company (NDC) has also extended the contract for the jackup rig Perro Negro 2 for two years, commencing from January 2015, for activities in the Arabian Gulf.

EP Petroamazonas has extended the charter of the jackup rig Ocean Spur, operated by Saipem, for 10 months until the end of the first quarter of 2015, in Ecuador.

Separately, Saipem secured new onshore contracts worth approximately $310m relating to 31 drilling rigs in South America, which include 21 in Venezuela, seven in Peru, two in Colombia and one in Ecuador.
