Using the semi-submersible rig Ocean General, the North Kendang-1 exploration well will be drilled to a total depth of 2,600m total vertical depth sub-sea.

Salamander Energy is drilling the well targeting oil and gas pay in a series of stacked Pliocene – Upper Miocene sandstone reservoirs.

The combined mean pre-drill estimate of prospective recoverable resources is about 770 billion cubic feet and 91 million barrels of oil.
Salamander Energy has 75% operated interest in the South East Sangatta PSC.

Once the North Kendang well is completed, the rig will be moved to the Bontang PSC to spud the Bedug prospect.
