Construction on the proposed Utah Red Hills Renewable Energy Park will begin in the third quarter of 2014.

The solar plant, which will employ 325,000 PV modules on a single-axis tracking system, will generate around 210 million kWh of electricity annually.

The electricity generated at the plant will be sold to PacifiCorp, under a 20-year power purchase agreement — enough to power around 18,500 homes.

Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert said that energy development is one of Utah’s four cornerstones to continue to strengthen its economy.

"By supporting projects like the Red Hills Renewable Energy Park and other utility-scale renewable energy facilities, Utah will remain a premier destination for business, jobs, and an enviable quality of life for our residents," added Herbert.

In addition, the work on 75MW Kalkbult solar park in South Africa by Scatec Solar is currently underway.
