The new solution utilizes Nova Scotia Power’s existing investment in Schneider Electric’s GIS technology and provides better, embedded OMS and ADMS technologies.

The DMS technology will use integrated voice response, work order management, and crew dispatch capabilities to monitor, analyze, and manage Nova Scotia Power’s network for power outages.

Schneider Electric’s End User Business executive vice president Laurent Vernerey said that this project represents a new trend in the smart grid industry, the integration of OMS as a seamless application of smart grid solutions to improve operational efficiencies and safety.

"We are excited to be on the forefront of offering this advanced technology to utilities around the world," Vernerey added.

The project, which was approved by the Nova Scotia Power, is currently in the set-up phase and is expected to be fully operational in late 2014.
