In summer 2009, a three-month consultation on the plan will be commenced. The consultation will consider delivery options and enquire about the type of support the local authorities, organizations, businesses and householders require for delivering practical steps to meet the zero waste vision.
For improving effectiveness of the waste delivery model, a review of the delivery model has begun. The review will recognize the areas of duplication in service delivery and recommends removing unnecessary bureaucracy.
Different stages of review:
In the first stage, the review will consider the shape of the new delivery model and make recommendations by July 2009.
In the second stage, the review will consider, as part of the National Waste Management Plan, what are the zero waste functions the new delivery model will have.
These two stages will collect evidence from existing business plans, feedback from customers and Scottish government officials.
The Scottish Government intends to have a new delivery programme by spring 2010 in line with the new plan.
