As part of the project, valued at about GBP380,000, Scottish Water will upgrade 1.6 miles of old water mains which will help reduce the risk of pipes bursting and loss of supply to customers.

The company will replace stretches of existing water mains, which are made mainly of cast iron, with new plastic pipes which are less susceptible to bursts.

The project, which will involve methods of work such as pipe-bursting, open cut and slip lining, will be carried out by contractors George Leslie for Scottish Water and is expected to be completed in about ten weeks.
