Ian Marchant, Scottish and Southern Energy’s chief executive, had earlier stated that the power station was ready to resume operations and would raise output over the next few days following testing.

He stated I am expecting it to be exporting power in the hundreds of megawatts within the next few days.

In February 2009, Scottish and Southern Energy had asserted that the Medway power station would resume operations in March 2009 after technical glitches occurred in September 2008.

Marchant stated that repair work took more time because of a shortage of skilled engineers.

Scottish and Southern Energy is a major electricity generator in the UK with around 10,700 MW of electricity generation capacity. It supplies electricity and gas to over 9 million customers in the UK.
