Select Energy Services expects the deal will help it establish presence in the fast growing, unconventional drilling market in Canada.

Select CEO John Schmitz said this transaction completes Select’s entry into Western Canada from its initial acquisition in mid-2011.

"The demand for specialised water transfer equipment and services in this region is extensive, and Select looks forward to growing its business throughout the country as a result of this acquisition and expanded service offering," Schmitz said.

WTR offers water transfer services for the shale drilling industry in Western Canada, with a high volume water transfer through a "no leak" water transfer system.

WTR noted that it has designed practices for water transfer in harsh, wintery climates of Western Canada.

Houston-headquartered Select Energy Services offers end-to-end water solutions and well-site services to energy producers.

The company sources, transports, tests, treats, and disposes of water and fluids from well sites across major North American shale.
