The Rivière-du-Moulin forms a part of the 1GW framework agreement signed between Senvion and EDF EN Canada in 2009.

The wind farm employs 175 units of Senvion MM92 and MM82 cold climate version (CCV) type turbines with 2MW capacity each.

Most of the turbines at the farm employ Senvion de-icing technology, adapted for cold Canadian climate conditions, the company claims.

Senvion CEO Andreas Nauen said: "Rivière-du-Moulin is yet another achievement for us in 2015. As the largest onshore wind project in our history, Rivière-du-Moulin represents more than a third of our installed capacity in Quebec. This very large wind farm represents a major milestone for Senvion across the globe."

Located in the unorganized territory (UT) Lac Pikauba in the MRC de Charlevoix and the UT of Lac Ministuk in the MRC du Fjord du Saguenay, the project will generate clean electricity that will be enough to power close to 77 000 households.

Senvion has become the second largest onshore wind turbine manufacturer in Germany with an installed capacity of 285 MW in the first half of 2015.

The company so far installed over 6100 turbines, providing an output of over 12GW.
