Under the three-year contract, about 50 on-site SGS experts will supervise construction and maintenance of mechanical and electrical civil infrastructure in the field.

The Caño Limón oil field, which was first discovered in 1983, has yielded over 1.2 billion barrels of oil allowing Colombia to become an exporter after years as a net importer.

As per the deal, SGS supervisors and inspectors will conduct all the necessary services to ensure OXY partners of the project being completed on time and on budget.

SGS said under its project director, Level I, II III and IV non-destructive testing supervisors and an HSE supervisor are on board to conduct construction supervision services on site in Colombia.

Services include civil, mechanical, electrical and paint inspections as well as NDT, soil and concrete laboratory and topography services.
