The EGP-3 is located within the Niger Delta and 100km southeast of Lagos and is being developed to harness the rich gas resources indentified at the Escravos field.
Production at the gas field started in late 2012 and the project is expected to further reap 395 million cubic feet of gas per day.
A portion of the raw material produced at EGP-3 will be utilized at the Escravos Gas-to-Liquid project, which is designed to convert about 325mmcf/d of gas into up to 33,200 barrels of high quality diesel, naphtha and liquified petroleum.
As per the agreement, SGS will perform non-destructive testing on 18km long and 24in wide pipeline. The company will also inspect the pipe material and welds the newly constructed pipeline on the Jacson 30 pipelay crane vessel.
It will use internal industrial X-Ray crawlers, ultrasonic testing and magnetic particle inspection to carry out the examination.
The project is scheduled to be completed in April 2013.
