Shell Energy North America is responsible for marketing all of the natural gas from the Broadwater liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, which will be located in Long Island Sound. Broadwater is a joint venture between Shell US Gas & Power and TC Pipelines.
Broadwater will deliver a large new supply of clean-burning natural gas directly into Long Island, New York City and southern Connecticut through an interconnection with the existing Iroquois Pipeline System. It is estimated that this significant supply could equal nearly 30% of current annual demand in the region.
Mark Hanafin, CEO of Shell Energy North America, said: Broadwater may well change the dynamics of the gas supply in New York. Instead of being last on the delivery system, New York will be first. Subject to the upcoming decision by the Governor of New York, we will introduce a competitively priced new supply of natural gas, a clean-burning fuel, to the residents of New York.
