The company will build six plants with a total capacity 16.7MWp in Italy’s Marche, Lazio, Umbria and Puglia regions for multiple customers.

These facilities, which are expected to be commissioned in 2011, will generate enough electricity to power about 6700 households.

Siemens will also erect nine PV plants in the overseas departments of France, Martinique and Guadeloupe for Sun Development, a company specialized in the development and operation of PV plants.

With a combined capacity of about 8MWp, these solar plants are scheduled to begin operations in late 2011.

Under the contracts, Siemens is responsible for the turnkey construction, engineering and project management of the power plants.

The company will supply full range of components, including inverters, medium-voltage equipment as well as monitoring and control systems for these facilities.

Siemens will also provide service and maintenance for the solar plants in Martinique and Guadeloupe.
