The service contract, which is Siemens’ largest service order till date for the company’s SGT-800 gas turbine, was awarded by the Sino Iron project’s power station operator CITIC Pacific Mining Management.

Under the ten year contract, Siemens will offer preventative maintenance, remote monitoring, parts supply, and field service as well as help in predictable reliability and maintenance costs for the seven SGT-800 units currently operating at the Sino Iron power station.

Siemens Energy Service Division CEO Randy Zwirn said the 10-year LTP agreement furthers the company’s growth as a major service provider for oil and gas applications.

"Australia is a key market for Siemens and we are proud to have been selected to provide service for this unique and important facility," Zwirn added.

Sino Iron power station supplies electricity to power the largest magnetite iron ore mining and processing operation in Australia.
