The new system surgically targets demand reductions via substation, feeder, zip code or geographical location. In addition, the latest technology manages all aspects of demand response, optimizing features and functionalities.

The DRMS 2.0 allows utilities to condition the load to meet system needs, surgically curtailing specific loads within tailored demand response events. The application allows users to structure programs to maximize energy market opportunities.

Siemens US Smart Grid Division president Thierry Godart remarked that this demand response system can surgically pinpoint a load overage or outage event which makes it easier for utilities to distribute reliable power while reducing lifecycle costs.

"Siemens is proud to offer a technology solution that will help ensure utilities have more efficient and dependable systems for targeted, real-time demand event monitoring while modernizing the grid to meet the country’s growing electricity needs," Godart added.

The platform has full reporting capabilities for event performance, load analysis and calculation of billing determinants. Siemens had released DRMS 2.0 on 1 October 2012 and it is currently available to utilities.
