The company, together with its Japanese partner Marubeni, will build the Chana Block 2 single-shaft natural gas-fired plant in the province of Songkhla and the Wang Noi Block 4 multi-shaft facility in the vicinity of Bangkok.

The two plants, each with an installed capacity of about 800MW, are expected to cost a total of approximately $1bn and are scheduled to commence operations in 2014.

The Chana Block 2 facility will be built by Siemens as an extension to the Chana Block 1 plant.

Siemens will supply an SGT5-4000F gas turbine, an SST5-3000-series steam turbine, an SGen5-2000H generator, the entire electrical equipment, an SPPA-T3000 I&C system, and the ancillary and auxiliary systems for this facility.

Marubeni will supply the heat-recovery steam generator, the main transformers and switchgear, and will be responsible for erection and installation of the overall plant.

The Wang Noi Block 4 plant will be built as an extension to the existing complex Wang Noi Blocks 1 to 3, and will include two SGT5-4000F gas turbines, an SST5-5000 steam turbine and three SGen-1000A generators.

Siemens will also supply the entire electrical and I&C (SPPA-T3000) equipment, and the ancillary and auxiliary systems for this plant.
