The initial phase of the Advanced Meter project, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), will focus on the provisioning and commissioning process of the advanced metering infrastructure deployment.

The city will also process commercial and industrial metering data to the MDMS using a Siemens-engineered data importer.

As part of the project, Siemens will also integrate eMeter EnergyIP to the customer information system to support the meter-to-cash process.

City of Fort Collins Utilities Light and Power Operations manager Steve Catanach said the Fort Collins Smart Grid deployment will enable two-way digital communication between the advanced meters and system managers, reducing operational costs, related truck rolls and improving customer service.

Siemens Energy Smart Grid Applications president Thierry Godart said the system’s proven functionality, paired with the efficiency and reliability of Siemens’ project management, will result in a quality smart grid deployment.

Fort Collins is a progressive utility located in northern Colorado and serves both electric and water consumers.
