Vattenfall has awarded Siemens a repowering contract to supply 22 new turbines for the Klim Fjordeholme wind project in northern Denmark.
Siemens will supply the 3.2MW direct-drive turbines to the site in 2015, boosting its installed capacity from 21MW to 70.4MW. The Klim wind project is currently using 35 V44 600KW turbines manufactured by Swedish power company Vestas.
Earlier this month, Siemens, Europe’s largest engineering company, won €1.5 billion worth of business for a Dutch offshore wind park, its biggest-ever energy service contract.
The order for the Gemini wind park, 85km offshore from Groningen, the Netherlands, comprises 150 wind turbines with a capacity of 4MW apiece.
