Siemens has received a contract to supply equipment for the 834MW Ansan combined cycle power plant (CCPP) being built in South Korea’s Gyeonggi-Do province.

Under the terms of the turnkey contract, the company will supply two Hclass gas turbines, one steam turbine, three generators and two heat recovery steam generators and entire instrumentation and control technology services for the plant.

A long-term service agreement has also been signed for the main components of the plant.

Siemens is also supplying two heat recovery steam generators, and the instrumentation and control system.

Siemens Energy CEO of the Fossil Power Generation division Roland Fischer "Ansan is now the second power plant in South Korea that we are equipping with our groundbreaking new gas turbine technology,"

The company is delivering the contract for South Korean company Posco Engineering & Construction, which is responsible for construction of the entire plant.

The CCPP Ansan will be fuelled with liquefied natural gas and will provide district heating for the inhabitants of the city of Ansan, which raises its overall fuel utilisation factor to over 75%.

Commissioning is planned for the end of 2014.
