Under the contract, Siemens will deliver two 600MW gas turbine packages, including a model SGT5-8000H gas turbine, an SST5-5000 steam turbine, a SGen5-3000W generator and associated turbine instrumentation and control (I&C) systems.

The company will also manage technical services during erection and commissioning.

Siemens Power and Gas division large gas turbine packages sales head Marco Hoffart said: "This order for two H-Class turbines will reinforce our position as the market leader in Turkey for this innovative and, at the same time, proven power plant technology."

The company will manufacture the gas turbines at its manufacturing plant in Berlin, while the steam turbines and generators will be produced at its plant in Mülheim, Germany.

Planned to be commissioned in 2017, the natural-gas-fired plant is being built in Kirklareli province of Turkey.

Gama Power Systems is the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the project, which is owned by independent power producer Hamitabat Elektrik Üretim ve Ticaret.
