The new combined cycle power plant with its installed capacity of approximately 775MW will be located on the outskirts of Denizli in west Anatolia. Commercial operation is expected to start in 2012.

The Siemens scope of supply encompasses two SGT5-4000F gas turbines, one SST5-5000 steam turbine, three SGen5-1000A air-cooled generators, the associated electrical equipment and SPPA-T3000 instrumentation and controls.

Michael Suess, CEO of fossil power generation division at Siemens Energy, said: “It is anticipated that power demand in Turkey will more than double by 2020. With this order we can further expand our position in this attractive power plant market, and at the same time make an important contribution toward ecofriendly power supply in the region.”
