The contract was awarded by Van Oord, which is the primary contractor for the wind farm which will be located 23km off the Zeebrugge coast in Belgium.
Sif will also produce the pile for the wind farm's offshore substation and, in partnership with Smulders, all the transition pieces for the project.
The primary steel structures will be manufactured by Sif and Smulders will be responsible for outfitting the transition pieces.
Sif said the total weight of the monopiles and the offshore high voltage substation (OHVS) pile will amount to 40 ktons and the transition pieces will be another 10 ktons.
Production is scheduled to take place in the second half of this year and the first quarter of 2018.
The offshore wind farm will cover an area of 44km2 with depths that can reach up to 33 metres. It will feature 44 Vestas’ 164-8MW turbines and one OHVS.
The project is estimated to generate about 1,394GWh of energy, which is sufficient to power almost 400,000 Belgian households.
It is owned by Nethys through its subsidiary Elicio, which owns 50% share of the project.
Eneco through its subsidiary Eneco Wind Belgium owns 25% and Diamond Generating Europe, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi owns the remaining 25% of the stake in the wind farm.
