The company said that the reclamation of the old Konongo tails dam has begun, with ore being stockpiled initially and haulage planned to start within the next week.

The company has received the environmental permit required for the re-commencement of mining and processing by the Ghanaian Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and engaged local earthmoving contractors to carry out mining and haulage as well as haul road maintenance.

The tailings is estimated to contain a resource of 61 150 oz of gold, in the indicated and inferred category.

Included in this resource is a high-grade zone containing around 448 000 t, grading at 1,66g/t gold.

According to the company, this material will be added to the 100 000 t of stockpiles available in the plant area, and will be blended to provide the initial mill feed.

The mining license has recently been extended to 2023.
