The facility, which will be near to Mississippi river, is expected to create 85 jobs on site at an average salary of $66,500 per year, according to SLM.

SLM also said that the indirect jobs, tied to transport, parts production and other auxiliary services, are estimated at an additional 374 jobs by Louisiana Economic Development (LED).

South Louisiana Methanol CEO Barry Williamson said the project is a major economic investment for Louisiana, which will bring jobs benefiting the local economy.

"With the air permit now in place, SLM is on track to begin construction during the second half of 2014 and facility commissioning in early January 2017," Williamson added.

St. James Parish president Timmy Roussel said the investment in Parish will bring jobs and income for communities, and generate revenue for local services.
